1. What is PCP Drug Use, and How Does It Affect Users?

PCP is a dissociative drug that changes perception, thinking, and feelings. It can be used in different forms such as powder, capsule, or liquid. PCP can cause hallucinations, delusions, agitation, and other psycho activities and can trigger violent or suicidal behavior. The high provided by PCP can last up to 12 hours, and its side effects can be experienced for up to 24 hours.

2. How Long Does PCP Stay in Your System?

The detection window for PCP depends on the drug testing method used. PCP can be detected through blood, urine, oral fluid (Saliva Drug Test), and hair follicle tests. PCP stays in your system for up to three days for urine tests, up to a few days for oral fluid, and up to 90 days for hair follicles. Trace elements can be detected through more precise laboratory testing.

3. Methods for PCP Drug Testing

There are several methods for PCP drug testing, including the urine test, hair follicle test, and oral fluid test. Let’s take a look at each of them in detail.

Urine Test: This is the most widely used method of PCP drug testing, and is highly sensitive to drug use. It can detect PCP in your system for a few days after use, making it ideal for random testing, pre-employment screening, reasonable suspicion testing, and post-accident testing.

Hair Follicle Test: This method is commonly used to detect the long-term use of PCP. It is the most expensive method, but it can detect PCP in hair follicles for up to 90 days after use.  This allows employers who have a no drug abuse policy to easily determine those who are drug abusers.

Oral Fluid Test: This is an alternative to urine testing and can detect PCP in your system for up to 48 hours after initial use.

4. FMCSA Clearinghouse Support

The Department of Transportation (DOT) mandates drug testing for CDL holders and contractors involved in DOT-related activities. HR and employer need support for FMCSA Clearinghouse which is available through Third Party Administrators or CTPA like Workplace Screening intelligence.

5. Cheat on a Urine Test – Is It Possible?

With the increasing popularity of drug testing, people have been finding ways to cheat on their urine tests. There are products in the market such as detox substances that claim to clear drug metabolites from urine within hours or even minutes. However, none of these products have been successfully proven to work every time. Hence the safest option is to refrain from drug use to avoid the risk of losing your job.  If you believe cheating is an issue, you may want to start utilizing oral fluid (Saliva Drug test) or hair testing.  Both methods offer a dignified way of having every specimen observed without removing clothing.
